China’s fourth national economic census will officially begin on the first day of 2019.

The survey, which will last three months, will cover all businesses involved in secondary and tertiary industries.

这项为期三个月的调查将涵盖所有涉及第二产业和第三产业的企业。

Data on the enterprises’ structure, staff wages, financial status, production capacity, energy consumption and research and development activities will be collected.

将收集关于企业结构、员工工资、财务状况、生产能力、能源消耗和研发活动的数据。

The census will cover about 30 million impersonal entities and industrial activity units as well as about 60 million self-employed entrepreneurs.

此次普查将涵盖约3000万个非个人实体和工业活动单位，以及约6000万名私营企业家。

China’s fourth national economic census is vital in projecting the new economic situations, particularly the development of new growth drivers, said Ning Jizhe, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission and head of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

国家发展和改革委员会副主任、国家统计局局长宁吉哲表示，中国第四次全国经济普查对于预测新的经济形势，特别是发展新的增长动力至关重要。

"The census would also promote high-quality development of China’s economy, and the results could help prevent risks amid China’s rapid economic development," the official said.

宁吉哲说：“此次普查还将促进中国经济的高质量发展，其结果可能有助于预防中国经济快速发展中的风险。”

Ning ordered the census organizations and statisticians to abide by regulations, carry out independent investigations and ensure the statistics are true and accurate.

宁吉哲要求普查机构和统计人员遵守规定，开展独立调查，确保统计数据真实、准确。

About two million census workers will be deployed to nearly 900,000 communities to conduct the survey.

约200万名普查工作人员将部署到近90万个社区进行调查。

Fresh tools will be used to facilitate the data collection. The NBS has opened an account on the most popular Chinese video-sharing app Douyin, also known as TikTok, to make the census more accessible to the public.

此次普查将使用新的工具来促进数据收集。国家统计局在中国最受欢迎的视频分享应用“抖音”(也叫TikTok)上开设了一个账户，以便让公众更容易了解此次普查。

China’s three previous national economic censuses were conducted in 2004, 2008 and 2013.
