　　Life on Earth depends on fresh water. Freshwater has many forms. Rivers,lakes, and streams are all fresh water. They are formed due to different reasons. Some lakes were formed during the last ice age. Giant ice pieces moved and left hollows in the land. These hollows were filled with water in the rain. Then the lakes appeared.

　　What about rivers? Snow ice melts away. Water runs down the mountains and hollows and follows channels in the ground. This is how river is formed. A river always flows to an ocean. Do you know the longest river in the world? Have a guess. Yes, it is the Nile.

　　If you think only fish live in freshwater, you are young. Many other animals live there, such as frogs,turtles,and insects.

　　Plants live in freshwater too. Their root system can keep the water clean. Freshwater is vital for our planet! We cannot live without it. Well, young explorers, thanks for listening! See you next time.
