今天来看看“路”在何方？

　　give way to

　　让位给，常译为“变为”

　　eg.

　　Analog clock-like instruments have given way to electronic displays with touch-sensitive screens.

　　模拟时钟样式的工具，成了电子触摸显示屏。

　　eg.

　　But when another male comes too close, your chirps give way to peeps and squeals. （Scientific American）

　　但当其它雄性逐渐靠近，你的叫声马上变为唧唧尖叫。（科学美国人）

　　make way for

　　给……让路，让步于

　　to clear a path for someone or something

　　把路在清干净，就是“让路”。

　　下面这本书，《给小鸭子让路》，讲的是：

　　“可爱的野鸭夫妇找到了一个适合栖居的地方，生了一群小鸭，在好心警察的帮助下，快乐地生活了下来”(豆瓣)……

　　碍事

　　俗话说，好狗不挡道，都在马路中间了，就是挡道、碍事的意思了。

　　eg.

　　The big time commitment usually gets in the way.

　　花太多时间，通常会很碍事

　　这个词，反过来就是“从我的路上出去--get out of the way！”

　　pave the way for

　　为……铺路

　　eg. Their economic policy pave the way for industrial expansion.

　　他们的经济政策为工业发展铺平了道路。

　　find  a  way around

　　逃避（规则、限制）

　　原意：绕路，引申为逃避规则或限制

　　to find a way to evade the rules, or someone's restrictions.

　　eg.

　　The students are always trying to find a way around the regulations.

　　学生总是试图逃避管理规定。

　　eg.

　　An American company paying higher taxes than its foreign competitors has a powerful incentive to find a way around the rules. （Economist）

　　一个比国外竞争者要上缴更多税收的美国公司，更有动力去规避规则。
