  figure

  常考释义

  1.n. 人物

  someone who is important or famous in some way

  n. 人像(绘画、雕塑)a person in a painting or a model of a person

  例:He has difficulty in drawing human figures.

  他在画人像时遇到了困难。

  2.n. 数字

  a particular amount expressed as a number, especially a statistic.

  例:It will not be long before the inflation figure starts to fall.

  过不了多久,通货膨胀的数字就会开始下降。

  3. v. 设想

  to expect or think (something)

  She figured that both she and Ned had learned a lot from the experience.

  她想她和内德都从这次经历中学到了很多。

  figure out 想明白  to understand or find (something, such as a reason or asolution) by thinking

  It took them about one month to figure out how to start the equipment.
