逻辑连接词为even，表递进，even前后语义相同。
even前说：many otherwise educated people remain indifferent to or contemptuous of such achievement（许多人多这样的成就持冷漠或者蔑视的态度）。such achievement，scientific achievement（科学成就）与basic physics（基础物理）同义对应，因此even之后空格their ignorance of basic physics（空格他们对于基础物理的无知）体现对科学成就的无知即可。

逻辑连接词为like，表类比，like前后取同。like后像伟大的艺术品在仓库里molder （腐烂），明显是对艺术作品的负面态度，因此like前面也应体现对艺术作品的负面态度。
第一空格所在句子：众多科学知识向广大非科学人士的disseminating是第一空格，此处scientific knowledge of our time (我们时代的科学知识)与outstanding piece of art work (伟大的艺术作品)为同义对应，要体现对艺术作品的负面态度，空格填入负评价词汇，因此选B. failure (失败)。

空格关系题，两空格联动。
前句说读者最开始被book明显的第一空格irk了，后句转折说一旦沉浸在作者的散文里，他们开始将book的第二空格视为asset了。这里体现了态度对比，即对book的属性开始irk，后来认为asset。
两空格表达book的同一属性，应该填一组同义词，而且对于prose的特征。选项中只有一组同一词，即B aimlessness与discursions 散漫的符合。
