The graph presents an overall view of how much a European country spent on fish and some different kinds of meat between 1979 and 2004.
As shown in the graph, compared with fish, beef and lamb, chicken was the most popular, in other words, the consumption on it witnessed a surprising increase of about 100 grams, rocketing from around 140 grams to 245 grams.
As for beef and lamb, although they both suffered from a downward trend, people in this country consumed much more in the former than in the latter. What was worth mentioning, in addition, is that beef used to be the champion of these foods with about 225 grams in 1979. To give more details, beef experienced more drastic changes than lamb, seeing a substantial rebound of about 70 grams in last 2 years from 1981 to 1983.
On the whole, fish which was clearly the least popular remained almost stable at roughly 50 grams over the period despite a short and slow drop from 1979 to 1982.
In conclusion, we can see immediately the sharp contrast between the soaring chicken and falling beef, lamb and fish.
