埃克斯特大学成立于1955年，位于英格兰西南的德文郡首府埃克斯特市，于1922年获得皇家令状升格为大学（当时称为西南英格兰大学学院），最早的历史可以追溯到1855年建立的一所艺术学校。埃克斯特大学现设有三个校园，分别位于埃克塞特市、德文郡和康沃尔郡附近的法尔茅斯。

地理环境
埃克塞特大学位于埃克塞特，英国英格兰西南区域德文郡郡治、城市。据2001年人口普查，埃克塞特的人口有111076人。2010年则估计人口有119600人。这里距离伦敦277公里，乘火车到伦敦需2小时30分钟。埃克塞特的交通十分发达，除了两座火车站，埃克塞特国际机场还有通往欧洲各地的航班，欧洲最大的支线航空公司FLYBE航空公司的总部也位于此。
